The numerous art galleries in Turin offer visitors nothing short of a treat. They house collections ranging from the works of the Italian masters to stylish modern art and avant-garde sculptures.
Always popular in Turin are the Galleria Sabauda, the Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea and the Museo Civico d'Arte Antica, the latter of which is home to countless Piemontese paintings and many local treasures of all descriptions.

This fine collection of paintings includes the work of Piemontese, Lombard, Venetian, Emilian artists as well of those belonging to Dutch and Flemish painters. A room is devoted entirely to the Gualino collection. The Galleria Sabauda is located within the Palazzo dell'Accademia delle Scienze.

Turin is renowned within the art world for being the first city in Italy to open its modern art collection to the public. This museum today is housed in a renovated building that dates back to the 1950s. The collections held within the Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea range from contemporary artworks to those of early 19th-century modernist artists. A number of temporary exhibitions are staged during the year.

The Museum of Antiquities and Fine Art is located within one of Turin's best-known historic buildings, the Palazzo Madama. Through four floors, visitors are taken on a journey through time - from Roman foundations, to medieval stonework, a 15th-century castle and the palace's Baroque rooms. Exhibits include a fine collection of Piemontese paintings, as well as ceramics, jewellery, glasswork, fabrics, prints and drawings.
